Other artists closely linked with photography were the members of the enormously influential plein-airiste movement founded by Jules Bastien-Lepage (1848-84). Pascal-Adolphe-Jean Dagnan-Bouveret (1852-1929), Emile Friant (1863-1932), Alexis Muenier, and the Hessian peasant painter Carl Bantzer all used the camera to record details of costumes and settings, and to experiment with different groupings and poses.
