The people gathered there because there was a river nearby, or the crop was especially fertile, or something of that nature. Then the people began needing things, like horseshoes, clothing, and houses. Sooner or later, the place will grow into a small town. As more people begin to settle, the place will spread out and soon enough become a city.
There were only a few issues created by my city, and they were not difficult to solve. There were only problems with reaching each factory with railroad, they couldn't be solved unless it was possible to pick up the factory and move it to an easier accessible place...
