Although the traveler would love to stay longer to enjoy the peace and tranquility that exists, he realizes that he needs to attend to his duties and obligations. He will not give up on them. The woods are described as “lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep…” (13-14). He is a man of strong conviction and is loyal to his word.
The season is winter, the time is night, and the place is the woods. The traveller in this poetic piece of literature finds himself caught up in the peace, tranquility, darkness and silence of the woods...
