Shakespeare starts the praise of his love without ostentation; "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate" (1). But "he slowly builds the image of his love into that of a perfect being;" (Mabillard), "But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest" (9).
