When the play begins Shakespeare spends a long time explaining to the audience that Romeo is unhappy because he can't seem to find a woman that he "loves" and that he can love him. Even though Romeo is head over heels for a woman named Rosaline she has vowed to stay away from men and stay in chaste. But, when Romeo goes to Lord Capulet's party he falls in love again with another girl, Juliet.
They talk for 12 minuets and 8 hours later they are married. It is things like this that define the story of "Romeo and Juliet" by showing how puppy love can lead to bad outcomes...
