Shakespeare has used Duncan's death to show the reader that although people want power, killing someone is not the best way of doing it.
Another issue in which Shakespeare highlights is greed. Both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are very greedy people. Their actions are a result of this and as greed gets the better of them, Duncan is killed. Shakespeare is showing the reader that people in todays society are greedy also however they should not let this get the better of them.
