I learned all about Malvolio, why the others do not like him, why he acted the way he did. It was all because of his religion. Shakespeare made Malvolio a puritan so those watching would have someone to laugh about because this play is a comedy and there always has to be at least one character that you can laugh at. As a puritan Malvolio dislikes fun and games and he is always very serious. If Malvolio was not in this play there would have been a lot missing and I personally do not think that the play would have been the same.
In this class it was the first time that I had read “As you Like It”...
