feels Lear is unfit to be on stage. He concludes that the tragic horrors of the sight of an

his own daughters is painful. He feels Lear’s intellect cannot be expressed on stage by an
actor; which is agreeable. He also points out that we shouldn’t feel so much
sympathy for Lear as he is set up to die. The respectable play that Lear is just doesn’t
seem fit to be put on stage; we can’t possibly mimic the tragedy Lear has gone through...
