The Monster's education is derived from his observations of the DeLacey family as well as reading. From observing the DeLacey's , he learns of justice, equality, and reciprocated love. They also contrast with the Frankensteins, as they have a "nuclear family structure based on sexual equality and mutual affection" (Mellor, 277). This family would have been an excellent model for the Monster, but as they do not accept him, they only demonstrate feelings which he can never experience.
