During this area of the novel Jack’s growth is stunted because he can’t get past the fact that he needs Tyler.
The story starts to climax when Jack gets information. “You stopped in last week, Mr. Durden,” he says.” Don’t you remember?” “Tyler was here. You were here sir.” (Fight Club 158) Jack goes on to say he has never been in the bar before and the bartender goes on to reconstruct the conversation for him. This is when Jack starts to discover he is Tyler. As this realization continues to climax Jack is now able to figure out why the things in life are going as they are. This explains why the new members of the fight clubs call him sir and wink when they say that nobody has ever met Tyler (Fight Club 135)...
