He undermines that the rose, as much as beautiful with a fresh scent, is just as deadly. A rose has thorns on it which can hurt the person. The rose shows his love but also shows the hurt it can inflict in a relationship. The speaker also refers to his love as a song; “O my Luve?s like a melodie/That?s sweetly play’d in tune” (3-4)...
