Character is the thing that shows the thought (purpose) of the tragedy through actions, while diction is just the meaning of words through expression. The spectacle is more towards the art of the tragedy and a song is more of an embellishment (Aristotle 23). These are all assumptions from Aristotle. I believe that Aristotle is correct with his beliefs because these are really key elements in most tragedies. One question that I would like to ask is why did Aristotle use the novel Odyssey for a base for his book? What made him want to use this one out of all of the other tragedies?
