While both boys and girls should be intelligent, have good manners and be respectful, Carroll and Hughes point out the key differences in what they believe the “ideal” Victorian child to be. Carroll’s view of the “ideal” Victorian girls differs from society’s view while Hughes’ view is in align with that of society.
