Today the worker to beneficiary ration is 3.3 to 1. By 2040 it will be 2 to 1. Unfortunately, many of these people will be solely dependent on Social Security benefits because many employers are discarding pension promises, and stagnant wages have made it extremely difficult for workers to save money for retirement on their own.
