Skinhead is a story about a youngster, who have had enough of living an ordinary life in a working class neighborhood and thus joins a gang where he, through violence, feels that he receives the respect and approval he deserves. But what forces a kid to go so far?
Skinhead takes place in Plaistow, a place in the London Borough of Newham in East London. The neighborhood is according to Joe Hawkins, the 16 years old protagonist of the story, not a place where he belongs.
