This I believe could create huge disparities between company’s financial numbers and make it very difficult to compare companies. We already have trouble comparing companies when they are both filed in GAAP, but it could become potentially worse if we have GAAP and IFRS at the same time. I believe that in order to switch over to IFRS it needs to be something that happens over time and in equal segments so that companies can all be comparable.
In addition to how the switch will take place I find interesting how much extra effort and cost this will place on U.S. companies. GAAP has been something that people are getting use to and the accounting field will be expected to change its very core completely in a matter of years...
