By 1894, ARU had over 140,000 members nationwide. Beginning in August 1893 to March 1894, the Great Northern Railroad, cut the wagees of the people.
By April, the ARU wanted a strike and to shut down the railroad down for 18 days so people wages wil go back to normal. This was the first and only victory or joy that the ARU's had. By September and March, the Pullman Palace Car Company cut wages for the people by 30 to 70 percent. The Company named after the town and the owner of the company and named George Pullman. George was rich and he owned the land, homes and stores.
